![]() ![]() The film has been shot in picturesque locales, which make each frame look gorgeous. What stuns most about Premam Poojyam is its cinematography. Does it live up to them? To an extent, but it also disappoints. There were massive expectations from this romantic drama. The actor is best loved for his romantic roles, which earned him the title Lovely Star. Review: Prem completes his landmark 25th film with Premam Poojyam. When a patient, Yojitha, stumbles on his diary, we get to know of his love story that has turned him into a successful surgeon. On a whole, Premam is a film of moments that explores love in it’s purest/idealistic perspective.P lot: Dr Sri Hari is a selfless cardiologist, who loves and worships his profession. On the flipside, there are a few dull moments in second half due to a few forced comedy elements (Sathya teaching dancing etc). Plus points of the film are casting (especially Naga Chaitanya), beautiful moments and realistic approach by director. Hence my view will vary from the people who have seen the original. Suryadevara Naga Vamsi has taken the risk and succeeded in delivering it without any bad remarks.Īnalysis: I haven’t seen the original Malayalam film (on purpose as it was going to be remade in Telugu). It’s a huge risk for any producer to attempt to remake a classic which dwells purely on director and actor’s ability. Production design of the film is authentic. Dialogues written by Chandoo Mondeti are excellent. Cinematography by Karthik Gattamaneni is fine. Other departments: Music scored by Gopi Sundar and Rajesh Murugesan is nice and songs mostly help in progressing the story forward without disturbing the flow. It’s only possible if there is a soul and beautiful moments. A film of this type where there is no commercial padding is very difficult to make. He created a soul for Premam though it’s an official remake. Chandu who directed a good screenplay based thriller Karthikeya as his debut has changed genre and proved himself as a man who handles emotions well with Premam film. He also used several references to Nagarjuna and Venkatesh. The casting of friends and lecturers characters also helped. Chandoo Mondeti has made sure that most of the scenes in the film flow naturally without any nativity issues. The endings of love stories are realistic which is why they started the movie with the caption - ‘Love stories do end. Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film written by Alphonse Putharen is very natural. Nagarjuna gives a surprise as father and Venkatesh plays it to the galleries as an uncle of Naga Chaitanya. Arjun Kalyan and Aravind Krishna did small yet significant roles. Srinivasa Reddy’s comic time helps and the entire episode of his family trails for his marriage are hilarious. Narra Srinu (Gabbar Singh fame) is hilarious as a man in love and Brahmaji gives entertaining performance as his love guru. Praveen gets a meaty role of hero’s buddy and does a fantastic job. Madonna Sebastian suited the role and did well. Anupama Parameswaran looks adorable as a village belle. Since it’s not Telugu, she looked very comfortable with lip movement and matching the expression with dialogue (though Chinmayi dubbed differently for her in this film). Most of her dialogues are either in Hindi or English in first half. Others: Shruti Haasan looks fabulous in this movie. There is a vulnerability associated with his character and he plays that angle to perfection to evoke sympathy among audiences. He lets his imperfections work for him in a big way as he gets aged through three different love phases. He has given different expressions at different phases of love. Naga Chaitanya: Naga Chaitanya comes up with natural performances as a man stuck in love at various phases of life. The rest of story is about if he gets lucky in love or not! After around 11 years, he is settled as a popular chef and finds another girl (Madonna Sebastian). After 5 years, he goes to college and gets attracted to his lecturer Sithara. Vicky is an innocent school going kid who falls in love with a beautiful girl (Anupama Parameswaran).
